My Stong Experience

[David] This was what Irene wrote to me before writting the article :p

"Hey lao da!
Hmm by the way just remembered i still owe you snippets of the stong trip!
Hmmm... to be honest, i can't quite remember the trip exact now.. (boooo...)
Okie... hmmm what should i write about? how about people?"

  My Stong Experience...

It was my first trip to Stong... comments from friends were "it's an excellent place!" "Great waterfall" "Fantastic!" So I have this idea of a wonderful waterfall trek, framed with a colorful rainbow by the side... but... hmmm expectation aside... what's a waterfall trek without water? And water indeed we have... it's RAIN WATER everywhere, but not a drop to drink. What's more interesting is the fact that we have LOTS of water for much of the rest of the trek, right from the beginning to the end! But I still must thank God that He still provide enough sunshine for us to enjoy the scenery and gather some fond memories... enough for me to want to go back, perhaps just up to Baha's camp... for the perfect sunrise...

Of course, what's a hiking trip without friends? I shan't mention names but if you are one of the people in the trip, you would probably have guessed who you are!

There were 14 of us...

One's a pretty good cook... who simply can't do without much oil! Hmmm would love to sample the Real Gong Bao Ji Ding.... (hint hint!).

Another is our journal gal... handbook ever ready to jolt down the details...

Next is our Mr Fit who has certainly made much improvement to his hiking fitness since the last time I knew him... Keep it up!

Then we have our great Ms Mixer... as in, she really breaks the ice so well with the rest of the people... and from what i know.. is a night owl! She just can't bear to sleep early!

Not forgetting our dear Professional photographer! We have yet to see the pics! Would chase her when she comes back from another great trip... Nepal!

Then we have our Ms Aussie...! Yes she's been here only this year... and she is already hiking in Malaysia! Good on her but hmm should really get to the summit the next time right ya!

We have a vegetarian with us too and she's so garang... she brought her own cooking pot and lots of vegetables to share with us and not forgetting her luminous mosquito patch! Haah and she has a good friend who seems shy but actually ah ya not that shy... seems game for anything actually! Well, they are travelling to Las Vegas together after the trip... don't lose too much $$$ okie!

Besides good friends, there's also a young couple with us... hmmm they stayed in the same block! Both are very quiet... but i think the guy really takes good care of the gal! 8-))

Then, this couple has another friend who comes along too... not as the light bulb but someone who can be a joker once the ice is broken... I think he did made some funny comments along the trip...

Well, of course we shall end off with another couple... very sweet and loving... and certainly entertaining! Of course, they are getting married next year! Congrats!

Well, that's my brief account of the people... must say I enjoyed the trip because of the weather as well as the people! I think every moment is special and to be treasured despite the less than perfect condition. But again, what's perfect? I think hiking or trekking is really about enjoying every moment and be in the moment...
